Maple, cranberry and chocolate homemade cereal, made with lots and lots of love and zero junk. I’ll admit, we’ve struggled to wean the boy off cereal, and today we nearly had showdown in the shops. So we decided to try and make our own – okay so it’s glorified granola, but if it gets him involved and more importantly if it makes him swap the cereal for something more healthy then I’m more than happy to call it what it ain’t! The boy chose chocolate and cranberry as his favourite ingredients. Once he’d tasted it he said “let’s never buy cereal ever again, let’s make it!” Result!! So here it is for you to try (I had some and it’s so crunchy, aromatic, and yummy)
Makes 5 servings
Ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats
A squirt of maple syrup / agave / honey (use whatever you like and adjust to your desired taste)
1 tablespoon coconut oil
A sprinkle of cinnamon
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup chopped up chocolate (use whichever type you prefer)
Method:
Preheat the oven to 150 degrees
Mix the oats, oil and maple syrup together
Place on a baking tray, making sure to spread out the oats, and bake in the oven for 12 minutes
Remove from oven and allow to cool completely
Add chocolate and cranberries and give it a good mix
Store in an airtight container (will last up to 1 week – trust me, it won’t last that long!)
